17 Ingredients

  • Impossible® Beef Hot Dogs Meat From Plants, 6 ct, 1 Package
  • Package Impossible™ Beef Meat From Plants, 12 oz
  • Vegetable Oil, 1 Tbsp
  • 1 white onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • Chili powder, 1 Tbsp
  • Paprika, 2 Tsp
  • Dry mustard powder, 2 Tsp
  • Ground Cumin, 1.5 Tsp
  • Cayenne, 0.25 Tsp
  • Ground Coriander, 1 Tsp
  • Can crushed tomatoes with juices, 14 oz
  • Vegetable stock, 1 Cup
  • Kosher salt, 0.5 Tsp
  • Plant-based American-style cheese, 3 Slices
  • Water, 3 Tbsp
  • 6 hot dog buns

How to prepare

Step 1: Make the Impossible Chili

Heat the oil in a heavy pot over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and half the onion and cook, stirring, until onions are soft and translucent, about 3 minutes. Crumble the Impossible Beef into the pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until well browned and cooked through, about 4 minutes. Stir in the chili powder, paprika, dry mustard powder, cumin, coriander, cayenne, and salt. Add the tomatoes and stock, and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer until thickened, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and cover to keep warm while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Step 2: Get Saucy

Combine cheese and water in a sauce pan. Heat slowly and whisk until well incorporated.

Step 3: Prepare the Impossible Hot Dogs

Heat lightly oiled pan over medium-high heat. Place Impossible dogs in the pan and sear on all sides (caramelization = flavor!). Cook for 4-6 minutes or until hot dogs have reached an internal temperature of 145°F. For the grill, heat grill to approximately 400°F and place hot dogs on the grill. Turn the hot dogs 1 quarter-turn every 1-2 minutes for about 5 minutes, or until desired doneness.

Step 4: Build your chili cheese dogs

Add an Impossible Hot Dog to each bun, and dress with chili and cheese sauce, and top with some remaining raw chopped onion to taste. Enjoy!
