Cook the Cabbage and Onions
Quarter the cabbage while keeping the core intact. Add 1 tablespoon of the oil to a pan over high heat, and place each of the 4 quarters of cabbage, flat side down in the pan. You will leave this in the pan until it chars nicely. It will look burnt, but don't worry–this will provide great flavor for the dish! Rotate to the other flat side, and finally on the rounded outer side of the quartered cabbage, approximately 2-3 min per side. Remove from pan, season with salt and pepper, and set aside to cool. Reduce heat to medium-low, and add the onions. Cook until soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and remove from heat to a large mixing bowl.
Prepare the Hot Honey Dressing
Combine chili, red pepper flakes, honey or agave, and apple cider vinegar in a microwave safe container, and microwave for 30 secs to 1 min or until warmed through. Allow to cool for flavors to develop.
Make the Slaw
Chop the charred cabbage, and add to cooked onions. Add raw apple. Dress the slaw in the hot honey.
Cook the Impossible Bratwurst
If cooking on a outdoor grill, preheat to med-high and grill links for 10 minutes, turning frequently, browning on all sides until Impossible Sausage Links reach an internal temp of 160°F. If using a skillet or indoor griddle, preheat to medium-high and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of cooking oil for best results. Cook 10 minutes, turning frequently, until browned on all sides and internal temp reaches 160°F.
Build your Brats
Spread some stoneground mustard on each toasted bun. Top each Impossible Bratwurst with some of the dressed charred cabbage and apple slaw, and garnish with some of the fresh herbs. Enjoy!
