Some people wonder, what makes a sandwich Californian? Is it the avocado? Is it the tomato? Is it the lettuce? The broad answer is yes. The more specific answer is: it’s the healthy stack of veggies. But you don’t have to be in the sunshine state to appreciate this tasty, chicken club sandwich featuring our Impossible™ Chicken Patties Made From Plants. You can even skimp on the veg if that’s your thing. (We won’t tell.)

While easy to make, this Impossible™ Chicken Patty California Club Sandwich recipe delivers on the flavor. It features our golden, crispy patty on a toasted hamburger bun, piled high with fresh, juicy tomato and crisp lettuce. And to make this plant-based club really sing: a zesty lime avocado smash and course, tangy whole-grain honey mustard.

Going breadless? Make a quick dressing out of the mustard sauce and add the sandwich components to a bed of greens! But however you enjoy it, this Impossible Chicken Patty Club Sandwich is as golden as its namesake.

  • 2 Impossible™ Chicken Patties Made From Plants
  • 2 Burger Buns
  • Butter lettuce leaves
  • Fresh tomato slices
  • 1 Avocado, Sliced or Smashed
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Whole grain mustard
  • 1/4 Cup Mayo or plant-based mayo
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Honey or Agave
  • Kosher Salt to taste
4 steps
  1. Bake the Impossible Chicken Patties

Preheat oven to 400°F. Place frozen patties evenly across a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes total, flipping patty over halfway through baking. Toast your buns cut side up for the last 5 minutes of baking time in the oven.

  2. Make the Whole Grain Honey Mustard

Mix together dijon, whole grain mustard, mayo, honey or agave, and salt.

  3. Make the Avocado Smash

Scoop avocado into a bowl, add lime juice and season to taste with salt. Smash ingredients together with a fork.

  4. Build the Sando

Spread some of the whole grain honey mustard on the bottom and top buns. Add your preferred amount of lettuce and tomato to the bottom bun, top with a crisp Impossible Chicken Patty and avocado smash, and add the top bun. Add more honey mustard as desired! Enjoy.
