Established in 2021, the goal of Asian Roots is to promote the development of people with Asian heritage at Impossible Foods and foster a community that celebrates Asian culture and achievements.

Key Initiatives
Supporting Stop AAPI Hate initiatives in the community: In response to the rising incidences of hate crimes against Asian Americans, Asian Roots has created and shared a handbook with several resources to more effectively respond in positive ways. This includes recognizing overt and subtle acts of aggression, bystander intervention training and ways for self care.
Hosting AAPI Heritage Month cultural awareness and social activities: During May, Asian Roots held many events to share to share with our colleagues our diverse stories of our cultures and what makes us who we are. We assembled panels of employees and leadership to share our thoughts and feelings on creating a more inclusive workplace. We also watched the award winning movie Minari, a story of immigrant struggles in 1980’s America, and opened up to how we could relate in our own ways. These were just a few of the many events.
Fundraising: We collaborated with our Impossible Black Employee Resource Group colleagues to create an event to share our commonalities through our love of dumplings. In the process, we raised funds for organizations protecting and feeding the elderly in our community and for organizations using art, food and culture to connect Asian, Brown and Black communities.
