Our top 6 italian recipes with Impossible™ meat made from plants

How many times have you been trying to figure out what to make for dinner and thought to yourself: “How about Italian?” The reason: Italian food has that remarkable combination of delicate flavors that are hearty, innovative, and, of course, comforting. Here is a selection of some of our favorite Italian recipes using Impossible™ Burger and Impossible™ Sausage Made From Plants.

IMPOSSIBLE™ ITALIAN MEATBALLS RECIPE

Who doesn’t love a classic dish like spaghetti and meatballs? This recipe is a leveled-up version of a traditional favorite because it uses Impossible Burger made from plants. For those who have never made their own meatballs before, don’t worry; it’s easy and fun. Just combine all the ingredients, roll them into balls, and place them in the oven to bake for a few minutes.

Top some spaghetti noodles with your finished from-scratch sauce (or use your favorite jarred sauce) and Impossible™ meatballs. You could even forgo the pasta altogether and enjoy the meatballs smothered in sauce. They’re the real stars here anyway. Buon appetito!

IMPOSSIBLE™ SPICY SAUSAGE AND RED ONION PIZZA

This Impossible Spicy Sausage and Red Onion Pizza is easy to make and incredibly tasty. It takes about ten minutes to prep and 20 minutes to bake — then you’ll have a pizza that’s as good or better than anything your local pizza joint is cranking out of their ovens.

Here’s a pro tip that works great when making pizzas at home: If you don’t want to make your own pizza crust from scratch, you can try Naan from your supermarket. Believe it or not, this staple of Indian cuisine can easily function as an absolutely perfect pizza crust.

In this recipe, the flavors of the spicy Impossible Sausage shine on top of the rich sauce and familiar taste of mozzarella and fresh basil.

IMPOSSIBLE™ PENNE ARRABIATA

Arrabiata is a familiar red sauce (that actually means angry in Italian) that pairs itself perfectly with penne pasta — and it goes even better with Impossible Burger marinated in Italian seasonings. The spicy, robust arrabbiata sauce complements the rich herbs in the Impossible Burger, and the penne pasta ties it all together.

Heads up:  you’ll need to marinate the Impossible Burger in vinegar and spices ahead of time. It could be as little as an hour before cooking or as much as two days. The key is to let the Impossible Burger soak up the vinegar and spices, especially that chopped red chili pepper. This is a great recipe when you need to serve a crowd.

RAVIOLI LASAGNA WITH IMPOSSIBLE BURGER BOLOGNESE

This Ravioli Lasagna and Impossible Burger Bolognese from Chef Dennis is the perfect example of the delicate yet hearty nature of Italian cooking. Just grab some frozen or packaged ravioli at your supermarket before getting started and get ready to build a lasagna from there. This dish requires planning and some time, but your family will love this dish and certainly notice the time and love you put into it.

IMPOSSIBLE™ LASAGNA SLOW COOKER RECIPE

One of the problems with making lasagna is that it is time-consuming. It’s not really something most people can put together right when they get home from work. Solution: our Impossible Lasagna Slow Cooker recipe.

You can make the sauce the day before — or even several days before and freeze it until you are ready for it. Then, on the morning of Impossible Lasagna Day (that sounds like a great day, doesn’t it?), you can simply assemble the layers in the slow cooker, turn it on, and let the magic happen while you’re gone. You’ll arrive home to a house that smells of delish lasagna.

This recipe is the perfect pick-me-up if your week is dragging a bit, but there’s never a bad time for lasagna, especially when it’s this easy.

IMPOSSIBLE™ SPICY SAUSAGE MADE FROM PLANTS, CORN AND CHERRY TOMATO PASTA RECIPE

Courtesy of Chef Traci des Jardins, here’s a super-fast pasta dish that makes a hearty and filling dinner for you and your crew. Fresh tomato and corn combine with browned Impossible Spicy Sausage, red chili flakes, garlic, and onion on a bed of penne pasta that’s topped with seasoned bread crumbs for some added texture and flavor. Simple, delicious, and a break from the ordinary.

This is an especially good dish to make when corn is in season. In other words, during the hot days of late summer, when you don’t want to heat the kitchen up too much. Light, flavorful and simple to make, there’s only half an hour from the start of cooking until it's on the table and ready to be enjoyed.
