Two things we think you’re going to enjoy about this recipe: One, it tastes amazing. Two, it's a great way to develop your Impossible™ Burger cooking skills!

First, marinate the Impossible Burger for at least 15 minutes in a delicious marinade that uses, among other things, two kinds of soy sauce and sesame oil. Trust us: you’ll want to include all three liquids for a more complex and richly-flavored sauce.

Next, you’ll cook the marinated Impossible Burger in a very hot pan. Here’s where you might be cultivating some new cooking skills. Using a spatula, form the Impossible Burger into a patty as it cooks in the pan by pressing the Impossible Burger together and pressing down on it, then pressing it together, over and over. This forms a firm patty which you will then cut into slices.

Now, about the onions. The recipe calls for spring onions. Many people think spring onions are just large scallions. Not exactly. Green onions are large scallions, but spring onions are a different kind of onion altogether. They are white and roughly the size of a golf ball. Scallions and green onions have a sharp, peppery flavor. Spring onions are much sweeter. If you’ve never had a spring onion, you’ll be hooked after making this dish.

The other ingredient to pay attention to here is the ginger. Of course, you can use dried, powdered ginger from the spice rack, but then you’ll miss out on some of the pungency and full flavor of fresh ginger. Once you taste the fresh version, there's no going back. Generally in cooking, fresh is better!

14 Ingredients

  • Impossible Burger, 1 Package
  • Fresh Flat Rice Noodles, 4 Cups
  • 1/2 Onion
  • Bean Sprouts, 2.5 Ounces
  • Ginger, 1 Teaspoon
  • 1 Spring Onion
  • Oil, 6 Tablespoons
  • Light Soy Sauce, 3 Teaspoons
  • Dark Soy Sauce, 0.5 Teaspoon
  • Cornstarch, 2 Teaspoons
  • Sugar, 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt, 0.5 Teaspoon
  • Water, 4 Teaspoons
  • Sesame Oil, 1 Teaspoon

How to prepare

Step 1: MARINATE

Combine Impossible Burger with marinade ingredients and mix well. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

Step 2: COOK THE IMPOSSIBLE BURGER

Preheat a large pan over high heat with 2 tablespoons of oil. Add the marinated Impossible Burger and use a spatula to gently press the meat to form a large patty in the pan. Pan fry for 3-4 minutes until both sides are brown and cooked through. Remove from heat and transfer to a plate. Cut the patty into thick slices and set aside.

Step 3: STIR FRY THE NOODLES

Using the same frying pan, preheat 2-3 tablespoons of oil over high heat. Sauté onions for about 3 minutes until they become tender and fragrant. Add in the sliced ginger and bean sprouts, stir fry for 1 minute. Push the onion, ginger and bean sprouts to the side of the pan and add in the fresh rice noodles (if the noodles are too dry, add in extra 2-3 tablespoons of oil). Stir fry until the rice noodles are heated through and then mix in the other ingredients. When cooking fresh rice noodles, make sure the pan is hot enough to prevent the noodles from sticking. Add in the seasoning ingredients and stir quickly until well combined.

Step 4: FINISH IT OFF

Add in the spring onion and stir fry until slightly tender. Add the cooked Impossible Burger patty back to the frying pan then stir fry until well combined.

Step 5: SERVE, SHARE, AND ENJOY

Serve immediately. Makes 4 portions.
