We teamed up with Momofuku and Goldbelly to bring you one of their most famous (but plant-based) dishes. Get a taste of the popular Momofuku Ssäm Bar menu at home with the Impossible™ Spicy Ragu Rice Cakes kit, sold exclusively on Goldbelly(opens in a new tab). This ultra-tasty recipe kit features chewy rice cakes, a spicy ragu base, Impossible™ Burger, and whipped tofu.

Momofuku Ssäm Bar is a part of the Momofuku family of restaurants that include Momofuku Noodle Bar, amongst others worldwide, by internationally renowned Chef David Chang. Ssäm Bar opened in New York City’s East Village in 2006 serving a rotating menu, drawing inspiration from flavors and techniques found worldwide while staying true to their New York roots. Momofuku has been credited with “the rise of contemporary Asian-American cuisine” by the New York Times and was named the “most important restaurant in America” by Bon Appétit magazine. Chef Chang knows good meat: The chef’s Momofuku establishments were the first restaurants to ever offer Impossible Burger, met with lines around the block.

  • 12 Ounce Package Impossible Burger
  • Spicy Ragu Seasoning Mix
  • 2 rice cakes
  • Scallions
  • Whipped Tofu
  • Chinese Broccoli stems
  • Chinese Broccoli leaves
  • Fried Crispy Shallots

  1. PREP THE RAGU

    Ingredients used

    • 12 Ounce Package Impossible Burger
    • Spicy Ragu Seasoning Mix

    After ordering your meal kit on Goldbelly, heat a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Add 3 tbsp of canola oil or any neutral cooking oil to the pan. Add one 12 oz package of thawed Impossible Burger to the pan and crumble with a wooden spatula. Saute for 2-3 minutes. Add Spicy Ragu Seasoning Mix and mix to combine. Add in 1 cup of water and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Reserve half if cooking for 2 portions, or all for 4 portions.

  2. PREPARE THE RICE CAKES

    Ingredients used

    • 2 rice cakes
    • Scallions

    Only cook 2 portions (1 packet) at a time in a pan. Finely slice scallions and reserve for garnish. Heat a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Add 3 tbsp of canola oil or any neutral cooking oil to the pan. Add 1 packet of rice cakes to the pan. Do not crowd. Fry, stirring occasionally for 1-2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Remove rice cakes and allow to drain on a paper towel lined plate.

  3. COMBINE, SERVE AND SHARE

    Ingredients used

    • Whipped Tofu
    • Chinese Broccoli stems
    • Chinese Broccoli leaves
    • Fried Crispy Shallots

    Add half of the reserved Impossible Spicy Ragu, 1 packet of Chinese broccoli stems and leaves, and 1/2 cup of water to a pan. Cover and allow the greens to cook for 1-2 minutes. Add 2 tbsp of whipped tofu and mix. Add rice cakes and mix well. Simmer on low for 1-2 minutes. Garnish with sliced scallions and crispy fried shallots.
