The real key to this recipe is using silken tofu. This is the softest and most fragile tofu, crucial for achieving the crispy outside and plush inside that characterizes traditional braised tofu.
Everything starts with prepping your tofu and veggies, followed by marinating the Impossible Beef. You’ll then carefully pan fry the tofu slices on each side and place them on a separate plate while you stir fry the Impossible Beef and veggies. Throw in your remaining seasonings with the fried tofu, cook until the sauce is reduced, top with spring onions and coriander, and you’ve got yourself a restaurant-worthy dish that can serve up to six people, all of whom who are about to appreciate the wonders of perfectly-braised tofu and meat made from plants in vibrant, delicious harmony. - 1 Package Impossible™ Beef
- 3 Boxes of Vitasoy Sansui Silken Organic Tofu
- 6 Shitake Mushrooms
- 1/2 Carrot
- Chopped Spring Onion To Taste
- Fresh Coriander To Taste
- 3 Tablespoons Vegetarian Oyster Sauce
- 6 Teaspoons Soy Sauce
- 3 Teaspoons Dark Soy Sauce
- 3 Teaspoons Sugar
- 3 Teaspoons Mushroom Powder
- 1 1/4 Cups Water
- 3 Teaspoons Soy Sauce
- 2 Teaspoons Sugar
- 2 Teaspoons White Pepper
PREP YOUR INGREDIENTS
Ingredients used
- 3 Boxes of Vitasoy Sansui Silken Organic Tofu
- 6 Shitake Mushrooms
- 1/2 Carrot
Cut the tofu into thick slices, pat dry and set aside. Cut the mushrooms and carrot into slices.
MARINATE THE IMPOSSIBLE
Ingredients used
- 1 Package Impossible™ Beef
- 3 Teaspoons Soy Sauce
- 2 Teaspoons Sugar
- 2 Teaspoons White Pepper
Add Impossible™ Beef and marinade ingredients in a bowl, mix and set aside for 10 minutes.
COOK THE TOFU
Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat, add tofu and pan fry both sides until golden. Transfer to plate and set aside.
COOK THE IMPOSSIBLE
Using medium heat, stir fry the marinated Impossible Beef, mushrooms and carrots for a few minutes until all the ingredients are cooked through.
FINISH IT OFF
Ingredients used
- 3 Tablespoons Vegetarian Oyster Sauce
- 6 Teaspoons Soy Sauce
- 3 Teaspoons Dark Soy Sauce
- 3 Teaspoons Sugar
- 3 Teaspoons Mushroom Powder
- 1 1/4 Cups Water
Toss in seasoning ingredients and pour in the water. Return the cooked tofu back into the pan and cook until the sauce has reduced.
SERVE AND ENJOY

- Chopped Spring Onion To Taste
- Fresh Coriander To Taste
Sprinkle some chopped green onion and coriander to serve. Makes 6 portions.
