Let’s switch up your meatballs, shall we? We love these zingy, mouthwatering meatballs on top of a rice bowl (donburi-style), with noodles or spiked on a toothpick for summery hors d'oeuvres. Donburi is a Japanese-style dish where either cooked or uncooked ingredients are served over a bed of rice. It can include just about anything (like these Miso-Sesame-Glazed Impossible™ Meatballs!) so long as it is served over rice. Don’t have any rice? Try it over quinoa, bulgur, cauliflower rice or another favorite grain.
We also love using freshly made fettuccine, angel hair or spaghetti noodles with these meatballs and making sure to spoon up any extra sauce from the cooking process to coat your noodles. And if you’re feeling a bit sandwich-y, make over your usual meatball sub by swapping in these miso-sesame-glazed meatballs instead, along with your favorite cheese or vegan alternative. We recommend a white cheese like cheddar, provolone or mozzarella.
As for the sauce: Haven’s Kitchen Gingery Miso sauce is used to punch up juicy Impossible™ Burger for a slightly sweet yet spicy flavor, thanks to zippy ginger. This smooth, salty and sweet sauce is inspired by Japanese flavors of ginger, white miso, rice vinegar and sesame oil. Miso is a fermented paste that adds a salty umami flavor to many traditional Japanese dishes. This sauce also contains a touch of mirin (a Japanese liquid made from glutinous rice, distilled alcohol, and koji, which is cultured rice) for a salty-sweet umami flavor. Finish these meatballs made from plants with some toasted sesame seeds.
- 12 安士 Package Impossible Burger
- 1 束 Cilantro, Chopped
- 4-6 Scallions, chopped
- 1/2 杯 Breadcrumbs
- 1 少許 Salt
- 1 包 Haven's Kitchen Gingery Miso sauce
- 2 湯匙 Cooking Oil
- Toasted Sesame Seeds
Make the meatballs
Preheat oven to 400F degrees. In a bowl, combine Impossible Burger, cilantro, scallions, breadcrumbs, a hefty pinch of salt and about 1/4 pouch of Haven’s Kitchen Gingery Miso sauce. Using your hands, form into 1-inch balls (makes about 12-15 meatballs).
Cook the meatballs
Heat a large, oven-proof skillet over high heat and coat the bottom of the pan with oil. Add balls to the pan. Sear balls evenly by gently rolling around skillet, about 2 minutes each side. Transfer skillet to the oven and cook for another 10 minutes or until the balls’ internal temperature is 160F.
Dress, garnish, and serve
Carefully remove the pan from the oven and squeeze the remaining 1/2 pouch of Haven’s Kitchen Gingery Miso sauce into skillet. Roll the balls around in the warm sauce, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, and serve.
