- 1 package Impossible™ Beef Meat From Plants
- Korean Rice Cakes, 16 Ounces
- 4 Fresh Shiitake Mushrooms
- Zucchini, 4 Ounces
- 1 Carrot, peeled
- 1 Small Onion
- 2 Stalks of Spring Onion
- Salt, 1 Teaspoon
- Sesame Seeds To Taste
- Soy Sauce, 2 Tablespoons
- Cornstarch, 2 Teaspoons
- Sugar, 2 Teaspoons
- Mirin, 2 Teaspoons
- Sesame Oil, 2 Teaspoons
- Garlic, minced, 2 Teaspoons
- Ground White Pepper To Taste
How to prepare
Step 1: PREP YOUR INGREDIENTS
Slice the carrot and zucchini into thin 2-inch strips. Sprinkle 1 tsp of salt over the zucchini and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, squeeze out the excess water and set aside. Slice the onion and mushrooms into thin strips and cut spring onion into 2-inch pieces.
Step 2: MARINATE IMPOSSIBLE BEEF
Mix Impossible Beef with marinade ingredients and set aside for 20 minutes.
Step 3: PREP THE SAUCE
Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside. If you prefer your rice cakes spicy, you can replace the soy sauce with 2 tbsp of Korean Chilli Paste.
Step 4: COOK THE RICE CAKES
Add rice cakes into a pot of boiling water. Cook until the rice cakes are soft and float to the surface. Drain with a sieve. Don’t rinse cooked rice cakes under cold water as it will affect the texture when frying. Mix the cooked rice cakes with 1 tbsp of the prepared sauce and set aside.
Step 5: COOK IMPOSSIBLE BEEF
Preheat 2-3 tbsp of oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add marinated Impossible Beef into the pan and spread around evenly. Fry until both sides are brown and cooked through. Transfer patty to a chopping board and cut the cooked meat patty into small pieces.
Step 6: PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
Using the same pan, add 1 tbsp of oil and saute onion, carrot and zucchini over high heat until tender. Reduce to medium heat, add in the cooked Impossible Beef and cooked rice cakes. Stir fry until heated through. Mix in the remaining sauce and remove from heat.
Step 7: SERVE IT UP
Transfer to a plate and garnish with sesame seeds to serve.
