Chili (opens in a new tab)is actually an ancient dish—did you know that the Aztecs were making chili for hundreds of years before the Europeans arrived? There are hundreds of variations on the basic recipe and many ways to use your chili in other recipes, too!

Chili is What You Make It
Chili is one of those dishes that is made just about everywhere in the U.S. and many regions claim that their version is the best. Texas, of course, claims to have the best chili, but New Mexico has two distinctly different chili recipes that feature peppers unique to that state (Hatch chiles and New Mexico red chiles). Then there’s Springfield Chili from Illinois, Kansas City Chili, and—stretching it a bit—Frito Pie from the Southern United States. Louisiana has Cajun Chili, Michigan has the Coney Dog, and Ohio boasts Cincinnati Chili that was first made by immigrants from Macedonia!
As you can see, there really is no “official” chili recipe, and we’re excited to offer our take on this beloved American staple—elevated with Impossible Burger. Sure, we think ours is best, but the proof, as they say, is in the pudding. Or in this case, the chili. We think you’ll agree this recipe is pretty darn delicious and worthy of iconic status in and of itself. Plus, our recipes are made with meat made from plants, so they’re they're good for your taste buds!
Have questions about how to cook Impossible Burger(opens in a new tab)? It’s actually very simple—if you can cook with ground beef, you can cook with Impossible Burger. Simply brown Impossible Burger just as you would ground beef or ground pork, then add the rest of your ingredients. Because Impossible Burger does not release as much water during cooking, there is no need to drain excess liquid after browning. From there, the next step is to be patient and let the chili work its magic. Then you can savor the hearty aroma as it fills up your kitchen and invite your friends and family to dig in when it’s ready!
